It used to be true that the only way to get a water heater out of a pan and onto the ground from a platform was to bear-hug it and lift it out. The old tank was dirty and full of sediment, and maybe there was an awkward angle to the whole thing. Just the idea of having to get your uniform dirty was frustrating, sometimes. Wasn’t there some sort of lifting hand truck or dolly for water heaters out there?
Well, it’s been around for a while, now. Hundreds of plumbers are using it. The Hot Rod Hand Truck & Strap Kit combines leverage with a plumber’s know-how to make it almost effortless to lower a water heater to the ground and still be able to reuse the pan it was in, if it’s still good.
The Hot Rod Hand Truck will come to you as a custom-built piece of equipment. It will have the curved rails at the top to make it easy to use as a fulcrum. Polyurethane tires for easy rolling and no flats. You’ll have a climb-spec strap to secure to the gas valve, and the water heater will become your lever.
You’ll be able to lift the water heater out of the pan, if there is one, and onto the ground. All without getting dirty or using your back.
Teach yourself the method from the videos on my Water Heater Lifter Channel on youtube and you’re good to go! You’ll be in command, making that water heater do what you want without the strain it used to be.
